Suicide Silence se formó en el 2002 en Riverside, California, en 2005 la banda hizo su primer lanzamiento, autotitulado EP. La banda lanzó su primer álbum The Cleansing, en 2007. El álbum fue grabado con John Travis (Static-X) como productor y mezclado por Tue Madsen (Himsa, The Haunted). El álbum debutó como número 94 en el Billboard 200, vendiendo 7.250 copias la primera semana, convirtiéndose en el disco más vendido de la discográfica Century Media.
Antes de trabajar con Century Media, la banda lanzo demos grabados por ellos mismo en 2003 y 2004, y a finales de 2005 el grupo lanzó su primera grabación profesional, el Suicide Silence EP el cual fue lanzado en el Reino Unido por In At the Deep End Records y en los Estados Unidos por SOS Records. La banda participó en el Mayhem Festival que tomó lugar el verano de 2008. Luego hicieron un tour en Europa con las bandas “Parkway Drive” y “Bury Your Dead”, seguido de otro tour en Estados Unidos con las mismas bandas. Ese mismo año la banda graba su cover de “Engine No. 9″ canción del album debut Adrenaline de Deftones, dicho cover fue lanzado en su EP Green Monster.
